Plaque

SNBC flats 1936

Erection date: 1936

Inscription

SNBC 1936

This ceramic plaque is lovely - the colours, the font, the design. Composed of 9 tiles inside a double frame, surrounded with a ring of brick ends.  A borough council proud of its building.

N16, Lordship Terrace, Laburnum House, Lordship South Estate

British History Online: "Lordship South estate (121 flats) on the western side of Lordship Road was begun in 1956 but not finished until 1959..." but that "1956" must be a misprint for "1936" since this 1939 map shows the five blocks to the south of this estate, including this building, already in place.
